Is male pattern baldness inherited only from my mother's side?

If I have high testosterone, will I definitely go bald?

Not necessarily. Testosterone levels do not reliably predict the degree of hair loss. What matters is DHT and the genetically determined sensitivity of individual follicles to it.

Can the process be stopped?

It can often be slowed. Finasteride and dutasteride reduce DHT and are among the medical options for androgenetic alopecia. They work best while there is still hair to preserve and require individual medical assessment.

Why does a hair transplant last if my hair keeps falling out?

Transplanted follicles are normally taken from areas genetically more resistant to DHT and retain this resistance after relocation. Surrounding non-transplanted hair may still thin, so long-term planning matters.
